Endomaterial Abalation

Endomaterial Abalation (for heavy bleeding)

If you experience heavy periods that do not settle with medications, your Gynaecologist may recommend Endometrial Abalation. The endometrium is the lining of the womb and a an abalation of the endometrium safely removes the lining of the uterus. Your surgeon introduces a thin flexible tube called the Hysteroscope through the vagina. The surgeon then passes fluid to swell the womb and then uses electricity or laser to remove the lining of the womb.

This procedure can be done under local anaesthesia with or without sedation. Usually you can go home the same day. You can return to normal activities in a few days.
