A Haemorroidectomy is a procedure used to treat Hemorrhoids. This can be done on many

different way. These are:

1. Banding

2. Injections

3. Surgical Removal ( Haemorroidectomy )

4. Transanal Haemorrhoid Dearterialisation (THD)

Banding is where Silicon bands are placed stragically to shrink the Hemorrhoid. Injections containing Phenol can be injected to block blood supply to the Hemorrhoid. Haemorroidectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the Hemorrhoids. You will need a General Anaesthesia for this procedure. The surgeon will place a tight stitch on the base of the Hemorrhoid and then remove the Hemorrhoid tissue. Dissolvable stitches are then placed toclose the wound. You can go home the same day and can return to usual activities in a few days.

Transanal Haemorrhoid Dearterialisation (THD) is a minimally invasive and pain free procedure that can be done when you are awake. The surgeon identifies the arteries supplying the Hemorrhoid using a device called a Dopler. Once Identified, the surgeon will ligate the arteries supplying the Hemorrhoid. The Hemorrhoid itself is not removed but will die off as there is no arterial supply to it. The procedure takes about 30 minutes and you can return home the same day. You can return to normal activities in a few days.
